  • Meet our QACPS Teacher of the Year 2020, Ms. Amber Wright

  • We are pleased to announce our QACPS 2020 Teacher of the Year, Ms. Amber Wright, Dance Instructor at Kent Island High School.
    She began teaching in Queen Anne's County as an Elementary School Teacher in 1995, taught two years in Prince George's County, and became Kent Island High School's Dance Teacher in 2006.
    Nominated for Teacher of the Year honors on multiple occasions, she has twice been a Finalist.
    She takes great pride in educating students and providing the techniques for them to use to excel in performing.
    Ms. Wright received her BA in Communication Arts from Salisbury State University.  She later followed her passion for teaching and became a certified teacher in Maryland where she has taught for over 20 years.  
    Ms. Wright was informed of her selection in a surprise visit by QACPS Superintendent Dr. Kane, Deputy Superintendent Greg Pilewski, Kent Island High School Principal John Schrecongost, KIHS staff, family and friends at her home in Chester, Maryland during the evening of June 8. 
    She will join the ranks of other county Teachers of the Year and be eligible to be recognized as Maryland State Teacher of the Year at the MSDE Teacher of the Year Gala in October.
