Volunteers
First, THANK YOU!We know that the success of our students depends on a strong relationship between home and school and recognize that we could not be the school that we are without the help and support of our parents and surrounding community. Volunteers play a huge role in enhancing our school programs, and we encourage you to consider volunteering this school year. At STMS, we rely on volunteers to assist with special activities such as:Eighth Grade Dance - chaperones and/or the dance committeeEighth Grade PicnicBook FairSpring Fling
Career Day
Field Trips (especially for band and chorus)
NorthBay for Sixth Graders
PBIS Events
Partnering for YouthAll volunteers in Queen Anne's County Public Schools will be required to complete a Volunteer Application every school year. The volunteer applications will be reviewed by the volunteer coordinator, Mrs. Jane Steimer, and the principal, Ms. Tara Downes People selected will be required to agree to a Maryland criminal history and National Sex Offender Registry background check conducted by the Board of Education. In addition to the background check, if the volunteers are involved in an overnight activity (like NorthBay) or student athletics, they must agree to an additional fingerprint background check by the Board of Education.
QACPS also requires all school volunteers to participate in a volunteer training orientation/session every school year to review the policies and procedures in the Volunteer Handbook. Should you wish to volunteer at multiple schools, please advise the volunteer coordinator so your forms can be faxed to the different schools.
If you are interested in volunteering this year, which includes chaperoning field trips, please complete and return a Volunteer Application. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Mrs. Sharon Sweeney at sharon.sweeney@qacps.org or 410-643-3194
