Mrs. Efland

We are currently working on our End of the Year Concert! I will be auditioning for the Save the Earth Rap solo soon! Here are the Rap Lyrics for your convenience so you can review with your child:

Save the Earth Rap Lyrics

Take a good look at the planet that you’re livin’ on
What’s it gonna be like in a hundred years?

Take a good look at the damage that we’re doin’
Does it make you feel uneasy does it fill your eyes with tears?

Who do you think will be living on this planet
when the garbage is erupting and the air is wrong?

Think while you can for the sake of all the children who must follow
Think hard! Be cool! Be strong!

I LOVE having parent helpers! If you are interested in joining me in the music room as a volunteer (IT'S FUN IN HERE!) Please contact me: Heather.Efland@qacps.org.

Fun Music Educating Websites to visit:

I love the Music K-8 Kids website as a resource for music.

Dallas Symphony Orchestra has a great kids website too!

Do your kids LOVE music? I highly recommend these toys/activities:

1. Wee Sing Books and CD collections- The "Wee Sing" collection of books and music has been around since I was a child and is still one of my FAVORITE book/song collections. My favorite CD's are Wee Sing and Play, Wee Sing Silly Songs, Wee sing America, and Wee Sing for Halloween. The music is fabulous and the books are fabulous. They are available for purchase on Amazon.

2. Get your child a disc man (they are super cheap on Amazon) and headphones so they can listen to their CD's/music anytime they want (and not bother you!)

3. Rent kid-friendly musicals from the library (on a snow day!). Some of my FAVORITES are: Mary Poppins, the Sound of Music, The Wizard of Oz, Meet me in St. Louis, Singing in the Rain, The King and I,  Annie, The Music Man, Newsies, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, and Peter Pan (with Mary Martin).

4. Put a boom box (away from water) in the bathroom so your child can rock out to their music during their evening bath (who doesn't love siniging with bathroom acoustics!?)
