  • Dear Parents and Students,

Welcome back to the 2018-2019 school year. This is my 13th year teaching and I look forward to working with you and your child during this coming year. Our first topic of discussion will be geography and financial literacy. A more detailed explanation of the topic and future topics will be found on the course syllabus that will be passed out on the first day of school.

During that first week of school you will recieve an invitation to join my Google Classroom account. This is where I will post announcements and assignments for students. Due dates will be assigned to those assignments as well as point totals if applicable. If a grade is not entered into Google Classroom check Parent Portal to see if the grade has been placed into the grade book.

This class will use the Chromebook and paper/pencil method for learning/teaching. It is important that a student comes to class with:

    - Charged Chromebook
    - pencil OR blue/black pen only
    - paper
    - folder/binder for social studies materials (do not use the Chromebook pocket as items will get lost)
    - colored pencils (will use these sparingly throughout the school year)

This class does not have a physical textbook and will sparingly use the Discovery Education Social Studies techbook for 7th grade. Materials used in the class come from the approved QACPS Social Studies Google Drive that has been created by QACPS educators and has the approval of the QACPS Social Studies Coordinator. Topics of discussion come from MSDE's 7th grade curriculum and QACPS social studies curriculum. All writings, activities, and lessons follow these standards to ensure student success on the QACPS Grade 7 pretest, midterm, and final exams. Student long term writing, DBQs, also follow these same standards and curricula.

I hope to see you at Back to School night and look forward to a successful school year.
