I was raised in Silver Spring, Maryland, and I attended twelve years of parochial school. I came to the eastern shore in 1972, and I continued my education at Salisbury University. I began my teaching career in grade 4 at Sudlersville Elementary, became a stay-at-home mom with my first-born daughter, and then returned to a teaching position at Sudlersville Middle School. I transferred to Stevensville Middle school where I spent the bulk of my career. One of my goals has been to continue my own professional development through various avenues offered through the county and state. My most worthwhile professional development was attaining National Board Certification in Adolescent Mathematics in 2003, of which I re-certiifed in 2011. I moved into the position of a math specialist which has afforded me several opportunities to continue to enrich my knowledge and provide valuable professional development opportunities. I continue to participate in writing curriculum, and I attend national and state conferences. As a math specialist I strive to help students build their confidence level with and enjoy mathematics, and to support the classroom teachers.
I have raised two daughters who attended school in Queen Anne's County. I am the proud grandmother of two boys and two girls, and all attend school within the county. It is important to me to spend time with my family and friends. I enjoy reading and outdoor activities.
