    Mrs. Ensor’s Reading and Writing Workshop Program Outline


    This workshop is designed to help students become more thoughtful and critical readers, more deliberate and skilled writers, and more involved and responsible human beings. Students will learn to read, write, and speak grounded in evidence from text, both literary and informational. Students will practice regularly with complex texts and its academic vocabulary.  Students will learn how to become active participants and competent listeners. All of the skills listed above will ensure students are on track to be college and career ready.


    Mr. Taylor’s Science, STEM, and Social Studies Workshop Program Outline


    The Science, STEM, and Social Studies Workshop will have students thinking, questioning, designing, building, testing, experimenting, discussing, and presenting ideas. Math, Reading, and Writing skills will be reinforced daily.  Students will learn to explain ideas verbally and in writing, based on evidence from thoughtful observations and text support.   

    Social Studies topics will include Maryland History, Geography, Government and Economics. Science topics will include Life, Earth, Space, Physics, Chemistry, and Environmental.  

    Mrs. Tomassoni’s Mathematics Workshop Program Outline


    Students will leave 4th grade with a strong foundation of math skills and concepts. They will build confidence in their ability to reason and communicate mathematically. Fourth graders main focus will be understanding place value to 1,000,000, generating and analyzing patterns, multi-digit multiplication, multi-digit division ,  fractions with like denominators, decimals, solving problems using measurement, and understanding geometric figures. We will work together daily to make math fun and to develop a love of mathematics.
