Ms. Mogensen

Recently established as a Maryland resident, I moved from my hometown in New Jersey three years ago. My family still resides in Clark, NJ with our pet rabbit, Pepper. I participated in all things music- and sports-related in high school including Marching Band, Orchestra Pit, Concert Band, softball, and Varsity Volleyball. I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education from York College of Pennsylvania and started my teaching career as a middle school Band Director in Pequannock Township, New Jersey. While in Pequannock, I instructed the 6 & 7th grade Concert Bands, led the 5th Grade Band at North Boulevard Elementary, instructed on the Pequannock Township High School Marching Band staff, and supervised the Pequannock Township High School Winter Guard program.

For the past three summers, I've dedicated my weekends to marching as a member of the Hawthorne Caballeros Drum & Bugle Corps. I've attended three World Championships in Rochester, NY. This summer, I taught music and visual for the Naval Academy Drum & Bugle Corps. I also traveled to California and Japan!

I currently instruct Piano Musicianship, Music Appreciation, AP Music Theory, Concert Band, Symphonic Band, Jazz Band and the Marching Band. I have joined the QACEA and MMEA organizations. I look forward to connecting with parents, students, and the community through performances and activities throughout the school year. This is going to be a great and exciting year for the program!

Outside of KIHS, I am completing my Master of Wind Conducting at Messiah College. My other interests include traveling, being an diehard New York Jets fan, mastering more instruments, crocheting, and reading.
