About Anchor Points Academy
Anchor Points Academy (APA) serves the needs of students who are not able to attend their public middle school or high school in Queen Anne’s County. APA has a small teacher to student ratio, which provides additional academic support to students who are not meeting success in a traditional classroom setting. Students who are at risk for academic failure, causing disruption in their home school, excessive absenteeism, school anxiety, or returning to public school after placement in a juvenile facility may be eligible for enrollment at APA. Recommendations for admission into APA are made by the student’s current school administrator, the school’s student support team, or the Superintendent of Queen Anne’s County schools.
Our Mission at Anchor Points Academy is to help empower students and provide them with opportunities to develop social attitudes and academic behaviors that will lead to College and Career Readiness.
Our vision at APA mirrors QACPS’s stated vision statement. We strive to help our students become college or career ready, so that they will become productive members of society upon graduation from QACPS.
1. Each student will improve academic achievement commensurate with his/her ability.
2. Each student will demonstrate positive social behaviors toward adults and peers at school.
3. Each student will make conscious decisions that lead to improved behavior.
