Dear Parents and Guardians:
The staff and I are eager to welcome our students to Centreville Elementary School for what promises to be a very productive school year for all.
Communication is vital for a successful school program. Please feel free to contact me with your questions, concerns, and opinions. After you have read this handbook and have reviewed this information with your child, please sign the notice on the last page and return it to your child’s classroom teacher.
The staff focus is on four key elements: Relationship, Relevance, Rigor and Reflection. First and foremost students need to feel safe and welcomed at school and in the classroom. They need to know that all staff are interested in them as individuals, both personally and academically.
Second, it is important that all staff work to see that their students have a successful year while maintaining a level of academic rigor and relevance that is appropriate at each grade level.
Finally, staff are reflective practitioners who continuously evaluate their best practices and student achievement to make daily informed, instructional decisions in the learning environment. These are my expectations for all staff at Centreville Elementary School.
This is going to be a great year! We welcome new staff to our school and have some familiar faces in new roles. New to CES is Mrs. Tamara Forte who will be joining the first grade team. We also welcome Mrs. Brandy Wright and Ms. Rebecca Clark who will be joining our Special Education Department. Mrs. Wright will be servicing first grade students and Ms. Clark will be servicing second grade students. CES is proud to announce that Mrs. Melissa Loller will be joining the Leadership Team as our new Teacher Specialist and Mrs. Kelly Inman will be joining the Second Grade Team. Welcome and congratulations to all!
Queen Anne’s County continues to make strides in our Digital Conversion and CES intends on continuing to add additional hardware to our classrooms. For the 2017-2018 school year, we have added four new SmartBoards in first and second grades and a class set (25) of Samsung Galaxy 8 Tablets for Kindergarten. The PTA and Symphony Village have been wonderful partners in the past and we certainly hope to continue those efforts during this upcoming school year.
Communication, as noted earlier, is vital. Please make sure all updates are indicated on InfoSnap. Also, please establish a two-way, open relationship with your child’s teacher beginning the first day of school. Your support will go a long way in helping make this a successful school year!
Thank you for your support, and we look forward to an exciting and successful school year! Sincerely,
Theresa M. Farnell
