• Math is around us all the time. Children need to learn to be problem solvers in today's world. Math is useful in everyday activities from playing ball to cooking in the kitchen to managing our time on a daily basis.  What can you do at home  to help your child in the math classroom.  Your family can play board games that you played as a child.  some of these may be UNO, Chutes and Ladders, Battleship, and an old favorite Monopoly. It is important for your child to learn the basic facts. Use a deck of cards and let them choose 2 or 3 cards and add the numbers together to get a sum.You can subtract usingcards by taking a smaller number card from the larger card. In the car letyour child add the numbers on license plates on the car beside you in traffic. Tale a slow trip around the grocery store - weigh your fruits and vegetables on a scale,lLook at the prices of the food, count the objects in the cart and count out the change that you may get back when you pay with cash. Have a positive attitude about math and the world of numbers.
