For 21 years, Windy has dedicated her career to igniting a love for music among her students. She recently created the first-ever 4th grade band program at Sudlersville Elementary, allowing students to begin their instrumental journey earlier than ever before. Her students have performed on prestigious stages, including Orioles and Shorebirds games and the National Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington, D.C. Beyond the classroom, she has played a key role in developing the county’s music curriculum and working with the Reginald F. Lewis Museum in Baltimore to integrate music into American history lessons.

But Windy’s path hasn’t been without challenges. Before she ever stepped into the classroom, she battled bacterial meningitis, with doctors warning her husband that she might not survive. Despite the odds, she overcame this life-threatening illness, thanks to her perseverance and the support of those who believed in her. She later faced the loss of both parents at a young age, experiences that continue to fuel her dedication to uplifting her students.

“In everything I do, I try to model what my parents gave me—their unwavering support,” Windy shares in this heartfelt episode. “I want my students to know thatif they do their best, they will be successful.”
