at Bayside Elementary

Bayside Elementary School is located near the Chesapeake Bay Bridge, the gateway to the beautiful Eastern Shore of Maryland. The school opened in 1991 to accommodate a growing student population that exceeded the capacity of Kent Island Elementary School.

Today, BES is home to approximately 370 students in the 3rd – 5th grades, as well as our regional PACS (Program for Academic and Community Success) classroom. We are an inclusive school that offers students instruction in the core subject areas of Reading/Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies as well as Music, Art, Physical Education, and Media.

Blue Ribbon School

National Blue Ribbon 2020

Bayside Elementary was named a Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education in 2020. This prestigious recognition reflects the dedication and teamwork of the BES staff, students, and families.

According to the U.S. Department of Education website:

The National Blue Ribbon Schools Program recognizes outstanding public and non-public schools. In identifying several hundred outstanding schools annually, the program celebrates school excellence, turn around stories, and closing subgroup achievement gaps.  The Award is both a high aspiration and a potent resource of practitioner knowledge.
