She received a Bachelor&#8217;s degree in Psychology and a Master\u2019s degree in School Counseling from Loyola University of Maryland. She became a Nationally Board Certified School Counselor in 2002.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All four of Ms. Holthaus\u2019s children attended and loved Centreville Elementary! She loves helping the students and families at our school!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-content-justification-left is-layout-flex wp-container-core-buttons-is-layout-63375db1 wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.qacps.org\/ces\/teacher\/erin-holthaus\/\">Learn More About Ms. Holthaus<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div  id=\"pbis\"  class=\"gold-divider fullwidth-override\">\n    <h2> PBIS \/ Anti-Bullying<\/h2>\n<\/div><!--  gold-divider-block -->\n\n\n<h2 class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-heading\">PBIS<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is a proactive systems approach to establishing the behavioral supports and school culture needed for all students to achieve social, emotional, and academic success. Each school has established school-wide expectations for behavior based on the premise of respect and responsibility. PBIS is a proactive approach to creating an environment where students and staff are recognized and encouraged. This sets the foundation for a safe and effective school. Our goal with PBIS is to bring out the best in all of us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">PBIS includes school-wide procedures and processes intended for: ALL students, ALL staff, in ALL settings. PBIS IS NOT a program or a curriculum. IT IS a team-based process for systemic problem solving, planning, and evaluation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Centreville Elementary School&#8217;s expectations for our students and staff members are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>C<\/strong>aring<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>U<\/strong>se Safety<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>B<\/strong>e Responsible<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>S<\/strong>how Respect<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In order to reward students for displaying the four expectations, staff members periodically hand out &#8220;Cub Paws&#8221; to students who are caring, using safety rules, being responsible, or showing respect. Students combine their individual Cub Paws with their classmates to meet class goals for earning a PBIS monthly class incentive. Teachers and staff members also hand out Classroom Cub Paws when they wish to recognize an entire CES class for an outstanding job in<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-heading\">Bullying &amp; Harassment<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Queen Anne\u2019s County Public Schools defines bullying, harassment and intimidation as intentional conduct, including verbal, physical, or written conduct or an intentional electronic communication that is repeated over time, creates a hostile educational environment by substantially interfering with a student\u2019s educational benefits, opportunities, or performance, or with a student\u2019s physical or psychological well being and is:&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Motivated by an actual or perceived personal characteristic including race, national origin, marital status, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, ancestry, phsyical attributes, socioeconomic status, familial status, or physical or mental ability or disability; or,<\/li><li>Threatening or seriously intimidating; and<\/li><li>Occurs on school property, at a school activity or event, or on a school bus; or,<\/li><li>Substantially disrupts the orderly operation of school<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cElectronic communication\u201d means a communication transmitted by means of an electronic device, including a telephone, cellular phone, computer, or pager.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Any student committing acts of bullying, harassment and intimidation, or engaging in reprisal and retaliation, or any person found to have made false accusations will receive an appropriate consequence and\/or intervention. Depending on the nature of the offense, consequences and interventions for the aforementioned behaviors can range from parent\/student conference to expulsion from school.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-content-justification-center is-layout-flex wp-container-core-buttons-is-layout-fe48e5de wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.qacps.org\/student-services\/bullying\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">QACPS Bullying Policy<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-content-justification-center is-layout-flex wp-container-core-buttons-is-layout-fe48e5de wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link\" href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/forms\/d\/1i852xrRz4mqi1EaDMcSoZAUVIyKxWcUxgGwEb4Fmbn0\/viewform?edit_requested=true\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Reporting Form<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div  id=\"character\"  class=\"gold-divider fullwidth-override\">\n    <h2> Character Counts<\/h2>\n<\/div><!--  gold-divider-block -->\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The mission of Character Counts in Queen Anne\u2019s County is to support and embrace character development in all aspects of our lives. The Character Counts Program is a coalition of schools, communities, and non-profit organizations working to advance character education by teaching the Six Pillars of Character: Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring and Citizenship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Business\/Education Committee has joined with the Community Partnership for Children &amp; Families, local communities, and other organizations for these efforts in Queen Anne\u2019s County.
