• Volunteers Needed
We know that the success of our students depends on a strong relationship between home and school. We recognize that we could not be the top performing middle school in the county without the help and support of our parents and surrounding community.  Volunteers play a huge role in enhancing our school programs, and we encourage you to consider volunteering this school year.  At Matapeake Middle, we rely on our volunteers to assist with special actitives, such as career day, 8th grade dance, Stinger Night, Down by the Bay, field day, etc. Many of our teachers also invite volunteers into their classroom to be guest speakers or simply to assist with clerical tasks. And of course, we could not take field trips without volunteers to help chaperone!

All volunteers in Queen Anne's County Public Schools will be required to complete a Volunteer Application Form. The volunteer applications will be reviewed by the school's Teacher Specialist and Principal.  Persons selected will be required to agree to a Maryland criminal history and National Sex Offender Registry background check conducted by the Board of Education. In addition to the background check, if the volunteers are involved in an overnight activity (i.e North Bay) or student athletics, they must agree to an additional fingerprint background check by the Board of Education.

Our Board of Education also requires all school volunteers to participate in a volunteer training orientation/session once each school year to review the policies and procedures in the Volunteer Handbook.
