Dear Centreville Elementary School Families,
The staff and I are eager to welcome our students to Centreville Elementary School for what promises to be a very productive school year for all.
Communication is vital for a successful school program. Please feel free to contact me with your questions, concerns, and opinions. After you have read this handbook and have reviewed this information with your child, please sign the notice on the last page and return it to your child’s classroom teacher.
The staff focus is on four key elements: Relationship, Relevance, Rigor and Reflection. First and foremost, students need to feel safe and welcomed at school and in the classroom. They need to know that all staff are interested in them as individuals, both personally and academically. Second, it is important that all staff work to see that their students have a successful year while maintaining a level of academic rigor and relevance that is appropriate at each grade level. Finally, staff will be reflective practitioners who continuously evaluate their best practices and student achievement to make daily informed, instructional decisions in the learning environment. These are my expectations for all staff at Centreville Elementary School.
This is going to be a great year! CES welcomes several new staff to our school and have some staff changes in roles and/or positions. We are excited to see what successes this year holds for our new staff!
Queen Anne’s County continues to make strides in our Digital Conversion and CES intends on continuing to add additional hardware technologies to our classrooms. For the 2019-2020 school year, we have added five new SmartBoards in first and second grades, four new Clear Touch Boards in Prekindergarten and Kindergarten, and several iPads for our iRead phonics intervention in first grade. We also had some painting completed in various classrooms. The PTA and Symphony Village have been wonderful partners in the past and we certainly hope to continue those efforts during this upcoming school year.
Communication, as noted earlier, is vital. Please make sure all updates and Back To School Forms are completed in InfoSnap. Also, please establish a two-way, open relationship with your child’s teacher beginning the first day of school. Your support will go a long way in helping make this a successful school year!
Thank you for your support, and we look forward to an exciting and successful school year!
