Character Counts! is a coalition founded by the Josephson Institute of Ethics, a nonprofit, nonpartisan, nonsectarian coalition of schools, communities and nonprofit organizations working to advance character education by teaching the Six Pillars of Character: trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship.
At KIES, a Character Counts! Coach is assigned to each first and second grade classroom for a Character Counts! mini-lesson one day a week or bi-weekly. The goal of the classroom visits is to support and embrace character development in all aspects of our lives.VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! Flexible hours, time with children, rewarding, fun!If you would like to have all of these things, consider becoming a Character Counts Coach! Character Counts is a character education program that is implemented in all of the Queen Anne's County schools. Kent Island Elementary is in need of volunteers willing to dedicate a few minutes a week to the students of our school. The commitment is small, but the benefits are great! It requires just 20 minutes per week to present a lesson on one of the six pillars. The pillars are: Respect, Responsibility, Trustworthiness, Caring, Fairness, and Citizenship.
