Degrees and Certifications:
B.S. in Chemistry Masters of Arts in Teaching Certified Biology and Chemistry
I called Baltimore home for most of my childhood. After graduating High School, I moved to the Eastern Shore and earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Chemistry from Salisbury University. After college, I began a career in Pharmaceutical Sales in the DC Metro area. During my time in sales, I realized that what I loved most was the teaching and training I was able to do with staff, doctors and nurses. When my daughter was born, I decided I wanted to teach in a classroom.
I finished my Masters of Art in Teaching degree from the University of Maryland University College in 2012. I began working at a public STEM charter school in Prince George’s County in 2013. I spent 2 years teaching Biology, Chemistry and Earth Science. Here, I had the opportunity to take on the role of Professional Development Lead Teacher, coach for the Science Olympiad Team and also co-chair for the SGA and National Honor Society.
During the summer of 2015, my family decided to move to Kent Island. I accepted the role of Science Teacher at Anchor Points Academy. For 2 years I taught several different science courses including, Biology, Chemistry, Earth Science, Genetics and Marine Science.
This is my third year teaching Biology and Chemistry at KIHS! Last year I also took on the roles of co-advisor for the class of 2021 and co-chair for the National Honor Society.
I believe that every child can learn at high levels and science is a great way to spark an interest in learning. My goal is for the students that come through my classroom to leave being able to think critically and solve real-world problems.
