I did not begin my career as a teacher. After earning my Bachelor's degree I spent several years in Pharmaceutical sales. During my time in sales, I realized that what I loved most was the teaching and training I was able to do with staff, doctors and nurses. So I returned to school and earned my Masters of Art in Teaching degree from the University of Maryland University College.
I worked at a public STEM charter school in Prince George’s County before the Bay drew my family over the bridge. I began teaching in Queen Anne's county at the alternative School and a few years later I accepted a position at Kent Island High School. This is my fourth year teaching Biology at KIHS! I will also begin teaching the Principles of Biomedical Science in the PLTW pathway. In addition, I co-advise for the class of 2021 (Yay Seniors!) and co-chair for the National Honor Society.
I believe that every child can learn at high levels and science is a great way to spark an interest in learning. My goal is for the students that come through my classroom to leave being able to think critically and solve real-world problems.
