Hello CMS family! I am Deon Passalaqua, and I am delighted to be CMS's School Counselor.
All About Me: I live in Smyrna, Delaware with my husband (Brian), and son (Santino). I spend most of my time, taking care of a busy and strong-willed baby, and I look forward to his 1st birthday in November. I attended Seton Hall University (NJ), before transferring to the University of Delaware. Where I graduated with a Bachelor's in Psychology, in 2001. In 2003, I began my Master's program in Secondary School Counseling, at Wilmington University (DE). I graduated that program in 2005. I started working as a social worker, with child protective services, in 2002. I enjoyed working with families and their children for 8 years. I had my first school counselor position, in 2010, at Howard High School of Technology (Wilmingtion, DE). After I year, I transitioned to Washington, D.C., where I worked as a Site Coordinator, at Browne Education Campus and Cardozo High School. After a year and a half, I started working as the counselor at CAPCS im D.C. I stayed for another year, before moving to Waldorf, where I was the school counselor, at two schools, for four years. I started at MES, here in QAC, in January of 2018. I transferred to CMS in August 2019.
What to expect: Getting information to and from the school, is a priority for staff, students, and parents. I will always try my best, to get back to you within 24 hours, either by phone or email. If I do not, please shoot me an email, as it is usually easier to respond that way. If you have concerns, about your students academics or behavior, please contact the teacher first. Teachers have the most contact with your child, and helps to alleiviate confusion, with relaying information from student/parent/teacher.
If registering with CMS, transferring to another school, or withdrawing from QACPS, please contact me. Please check out the Registration link, for more information on enrolling a new student.
