I am extremely excited to be teaching first grade here at Matapeake Elementary School!
I received my undergraduate degree in 1994 from Salisbury State University in English and my Master's degree in 2010 in Elementary Education from The University of Phoenix. I was a private pre-School teacher for three years while I was working on obtaining my master's degree. Upon completion of student teaching at Kent Island Elementary School in the kindergarten classroom, I became the reading tutor there for two years prior to being hired in the 2012-13 school year as the Pre-K teacher at Matapeake Elementary School. The following year, I began teaching first grade and this is now my fourth year teaching at this grade level.
I live in Stevensville, MD with my wonderful husband of 21 years, my 13 year old son, and 4 year old shi tzu. I am a Ravens fanatic and love watching my son play lacrosse, soccer, and basketball. We're a very sports oriented household so I'm sure I'll see you on the fields.
In my spare time I thoroughly enjoy spending time with my family and friends and researching new and fun ways for learning in first grade.
First grade is a year to continue building that foundation for the love of reading and number sense. Check out these websites:
