FEBRUARY 17, 2025 WILL BE A DAY OF INSTRUCTION FOR QACPS

***NEWS RELEASE***

On January 28, 2025, the Maryland State Board of Education approved Queen Anne’s County Public Schools (QACPS) request for approval of a waiver to use President’s Day, February 17, 2025 as a day of instruction for students and staff.

During the creation of the 2024-2025 school year calendar and approval last winter, QACPS built two holiday inclement weather contingency days into the calendar (Martin Luther King, Jr. Day & President’s Day), and included three additional days embedded at the end of the school year for potential weather related make-up days.

QACPS was closed for inclement weather days on January 6-10 and January 21, 2025.  At this time, we are uncertain what the remaining days of winter may bring. It is our hope that it will not be necessary to use any additional days off. In early spring, the Board will vote to designate the last day of school and notification will follow to all stakeholders.
