Service Learning
QACPS promotes high-quality Service Learning experiences that enhance students’ education and meet State requirements. Students will complete a total of five projects that meet the minimum requirement of 75 hours. Service Learning experiences begin in Grade 4 and continue through Middle and High School.
Gifted & Talented
QACPS fosters the development of an inclusive, rather than exclusive, approach to gifted/talented education. Students who exhibit high performance capability in intellectual, creative and/or artistic areas, possess an unusual leadership capacity, or excel in specific academic fields may be identified for differentiated learning opportunities.

Charter Schools
Queen Anne’s County Public Schools (QACPS) is the sole authorizer of public charter schools in the county, in accordance with Maryland law (Education Article, Title 9) and QACPS Board Policy 102. Below are resources and application materials for groups interested in applying to establish a public charter school in QACPS.
QACPS is committed to transparency, consistency, and adherence to State law in its charter authorizing process. The documents provided below outline the procedures, requirements, and evaluation framework used for charter school applications in Queen Anne’s County. Applicants are responsible for reviewing all posted materials carefully, as application requirements, scoring criteria, and process guidance may be updated periodically to align with Maryland law, MSDE guidance, and best practices in charter school authorizing.

Notice Regarding Application Versions
All charter school applications submitted for the 2026–2027 cycle will be evaluated using the current versions of the Charter School Application, scoring rubrics, and process guidelines posted on the QACPS website. Prior versions of application materials do not govern the current application cycle. Applicants should not rely on superseded or draft materials when preparing submissions.
