KI Update 10/26/23

Football game tomorrow night at QACHS – Students must have a student ID to enter for free to the game. You will be asked to pay an entrance fee of $5.00 without an ID.

The end of Q1 is fast approaching! – Q1 ends on November 2.  Effective work habits for student success can be found here. PLEASE reach out to your teachers or counselors if you are struggling and need our help.  Tutoring by a classroom teacher IS available!  Student led tutoring is also available from our NHS. This grading report impacts sports eligibility both for the current season and the upcoming Winter season.

Start your day on time and ready to learn –  Students and parents can expect to hear from teachers regarding tardiness to class. Students who have parking passes can lose the privilege of parking on the school lot due to too many late arrivals in the morning.  Please partner with us in helping to make “on time” an important practice.

This play is chock full of high comedy and witty dialogue and is one of Wilde’s most popular productions.Come on out and support our theater students here at KIHS!

Winter Sports Orientation – Wednesday, November 1, 6:00pm in the auditorium. Winter sports  begin November 15. You must register on Form RELeaf and have a current physical on file. Please reach out to individual coaches for tryout and practice times and locations.  

Playoff games – are approaching!  Admission to all playoff games is $6.00 for all attendees over the age of 7.  Family passes are not accepted at these games.

November 8th Family & Student Math Night  KIHS will be hosting a Family and Student Math Night on November 8th, from 6:00-7:30, to support student success in Algebra & Geometry. Remember, students must pass the Algebra I state assessment in order to graduate so please consider attending. Check out the flier here for more information.

November 7 – Chesapeake College representatives will be at Kent Island High School to register juniors and seniors for spring dual enrollment classes. Students must apply to the college and have their dual enrollment certification forms turn in to their school counselor prior to this date. A cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher is required.

Testing Schedule for 1st Semester-Save the Dates! Please mark your calendars for upcoming semester 1 assessments including ASVAB,  state graduation assessments, and final exams. It is important that students are in school during these dates. The testing calendar, purpose of each assessment, and who is scheduled to participate in each assessment can be found here

Medication Reminder –  Just a reminder that students are NOT allowed to carry medications, including over the counter medications like Tylenol, and cough drops.  The school nurse has cough drops and Tylenol and can give to students that have permission to get them after an assessment is done.
