KI Update 2/22/24

Important Updates for This Week:

Q3 Interims – will be emailed home tomorrow!  This report determines athletic eligibility for sports.

Spring Sports Orientation – is TONIGHT at 6:00PM in the cafeteria.

Life After High School Night – Monday, March 4th in the Auditorium

  • 11th Grade – 5:00PM
  • 9,10, 12th Grade – 5:30PM

This event is truly for everyone! Those planning on attending 4 year schools, 2 year schools, trade schools, workforce or the military. Local employers will be here looking to hire now and also for summer employment.

Spring Musical –  Please join the KIHS Theatre Department as they perform, “My Fair Lady” beginning March 1!  Information on all the shows and to purchase tickets can be found here

AAPPL Score Reports – Students who were enrolled in Spanish 2, 3, or 4 last semester and took the AAPPL assessment will receive their score reports during 1st period tomorrow. This assessment is used to acquire the Maryland Seal of Biliteracy. 

School Day SAT for Juniors-March 26th! QACPS offers the SAT free of charge to Juniors each year. KIHS will be administering the SAT on Tuesday, March 26th, during the school day. The SAT is now a digital test. Practice resources and more information about the SAT can be found here

Summer School 2024

Summer School will be held July 8th through August 1st. Students who have failed a core academic course will have the opportunity to complete credit recovery during this time. A fee of $200 per course will be charged for Summer School. 

To be on track for graduation, students must earn a certain number of credits each year. The number of credits needed to be promoted to the next grade is outlined below.

  • To be Promoted to 10th Grade, Earn At Least 5 Credits
  • To be Promoted to 11th Grade, Earn At Least 12 Credits
  • To be Promoted to 12th Grade, Earn At Least 18 Credits

Summer School is a great opportunity to get on track for graduation. Information regarding how to sign up for Summer School will be shared later this semester. 

School Communication –  As S2 continues, we will get busier and busier with many activities planned at KIHS.  Please stay current by reading the weekly KI Update, viewing our daily Buc Report, and visiting our school webpage and Instagram accounts.
