KI Update 5/2/24

Performing Arts Programs:  Please join us to celebrate Spring with performances from our Band, Dance Company, Dance classes and Choir groups. All performances are held within our auditorium

  • May 2 – Band Concert – 7:00 PM
  • May 3 – Dance Company – 6:00 PM
  • May 7 – Choir Concert – 7:00 PM
  • May 20 – Dance Showcase – 7:00 PM

Mental Health Awareness Week – May 6th – 10th

Please join us in celebrating Mental Health Awareness week beginning Monday, May 6th.  Students are encouraged to participate in spirit week by dressing up each day. A flier outlining what to wear next week can be found here .

Cap and Gown Distribution – May 8 – Jostens will be in the cafeteria during all lunch shifts next Wednesday, May 8 to distribute students’ cap and gown orders.  All students must have a cap and gown, to participate in the ceremony on May 30.  Please contact Jostens with any questions about your order, or if you need to place an order. 

KIHS Advisory Period Parent Focus Group-May 20th, 5pm-6pm

KIHS will be running an advisory period block beginning next school year. The purpose of the advisory period is to support students’ academic and social-emotional skills. During the advisory period students will have opportunities to access tutoring, participate in clubs and activities, study/complete homework, and participate in sessions to improve their academic work habits, college and career readiness, and wellness. 

If you are interested in participating in a parent/community focus group on Monday, May 20th, from 5pm-6pm to provide input and collaborate with our team as we finalize the advisory period, please complete the interest survey below.

AP Testing Begins Monday & MISA State Testing – May 7th-9th AP Testing begins next week. The schedule for AP exams is linked here and on the calendar below. Also, students currently taking Biology will be taking MISA on May 7th, 8th, and 9th during their Biology course. This exam counts as 20% of their final grade for Biology. Students must have a fully charged laptop for each day of testing. This assessment is a state graduation assessment requirement.

The schedule for state graduation assessments, AP tests, and final exams is linked below. It is important that students are in school during these dates. 

Semester 2 Testing Schedule

Please note, students may not have unapproved electronic devices on them during state or local testing. If a student is found to have an unapproved electronic device on them during testing their test may be voided and disciplinary action will be taken.

Senior Final Exam Countdown The Class of 2024 are scheduled for their final exams on May 22nd and May 23rd. All students will follow an adjusted bell schedule on these two days to accommodate senior final exams. The bell schedule for senior final exams can be found below. Seniors, be sure to prepare for your exams so that you are sure to FINISH STRONG!

Summer School 2024 Students who fail core academic courses will be recommended to attend summer school to ensure they remain on track for graduation. School counselors will recommend specific courses for your child. This information will be shared in mid May. The schedule for summer school, as well as payment information, can be found below.
