KI Update 9/14/23

Varsity Football Game Tomorrow Night – Game time is 6:00PM! Just a reminder to our students, for free entry you must present your school schedule or last year’s student ID.  This is the last game where we will accept these items for free admittance.  

Student ID’s will go on sale starting Monday in the cafeteria during all lunches.  A current student ID will be necessary for free admittance for all other games starting with the October 14th Homecoming game.  

MCAP Government and MISA Score Reports  Students who were enrolled in Biology or Government in the 2022-2023 spring semester received their MCAP Government and/or MISA score report today during 1st period.  These assessments are 2 of the 4 required state assessments for graduation. Please take time to review these score reports with your child. 

Tutoring Help is Now Available – Don’t struggle with your grades, when help is available!  Please check out the NHS Tutoring flier  for information on how to sign up for peer tutoring. 

Community Overdose Action –  As part of a Town Hall Series, on Thursday, September 21 from 6:30PM-7:30PM there will be a discussion on how we, as a community, can do more to address the opioid and overdose crisis in our county.  More information can be found here .

Battle of the Bands! – Our Marching Buccaneers are hosting their second annual Maryland Marching Band Association competition this Saturday, September 16 starting at 6:00PM. Five marching bands will perform for feedback from judges and we would love for you to be in the audience to support our Marching Buccaneers! The show begins at 6pm and Kent Island will be the last to perform at 7:10pm.

All proceeds from concessions and ticket sales go towards student scholarships for students facing financial hardship, instrument replacements, travel expenses, and so much more. 

Suicide Prevention Awareness Month September is National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month. Please use the resources below to help you recognize the risks and warning signs of students who are struggling with mental health. If you feel your child or friend is struggling with mental health, please let us know by contacting your child’s school counselor. We can help!
