KI Update 9/28/23

Q1 Interim Reports will be emailed home tomorrow!  These grades will determine athletic eligibility.  Please contact your child’s teachers or school counselor with any questions once you receive the report. If your child is struggling academically, ask their teacher about our free after school tutoring and/or Saturday School opportunities.

Clubs and Activities Fair is tomorrow! –  During all lunch shifts in the Main Gym, students can browse the tables of all the clubs and activities that we have here at KIHS!  Get involved and join a club!  There’s something for everyone!

MCAP Algebra I and English 10 Score Reports: If your child was enrolled in Algebra I or English 2 during the second semester last year and took the associated state assessment, they received their MCAP score reports during 1st period today. These assessments are Maryland graduation assessment and college and career readiness requirements. If your child did score 750 or higher, they will be required to take another state assessment this year at the conclusion of their English or Math course. Students scoring below 750 on MCAP Algebra I will be taking MCAP Algebra I or MCAP Geometry at the conclusion of the corresponding course. Students who scored below 750 on MCAP English 10 will be retaking MCAP English 10 at the conclusion of English 2 or English 3. These state assessments will be administered in December and January.

Homecoming is approaching! – Tickets have been on sale for seniors only this week.  Any senior wishing to bring a guest MUST have the guest form turned in by tomorrow. Tickets for underclassmen go on sale MONDAY, October 2 during all lunch shifts.

Two big reminders in order to buy tickets:

1. You must have your student ID – (can be purchased during your lunch shift)

2. You must have completed the Student Expectations Form

*Without either of these, you will not be able to purchase a ticket.

Suicide Prevention Awareness Month-Assembly on October 4th September is National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month. On Wednesday, October 4 all students will be attending an assembly presented by  Alex Boye.  We will be following an Assembly Schedule which can be found here .  

Please use the resources below to help you recognize the risks and warning signs of students who are struggling with mental health. If you feel your child or friend is struggling with mental health, please let us know by contacting your child’s school counselor. We can help!
