May 1, 2024

Dear Parents of the Class of 2024:

On Thursday, May 30, 2024 we will celebrate the graduation of the Class of 2024!  The faculty, staff, and administrators of Kent Island High School would like to extend our congratulations. To honor the graduates, we would like the graduation ceremony to be formal, yet celebratory.

The ceremony will begin promptly at 10:00 a.m. within our stadium.  Doors will open at 9:00 a.m.  In the event of rain, the ceremony will take place on Friday May 31 at 10:00 a.m.

Each graduate will receive 8 tickets.  The tickets will be distributed to seniors on Wednesday May 29, after rehearsal.  You will receive four tickets for field seating in the stadium and four tickets for bleacher seating. Space is limited, and every person attending graduation must have a ticket. We will be live streaming the event and a link to access the event will be emailed home closer to graduation. If you need more tickets, your child may find unused tickets from classmates.  The school does not have any extra tickets or replacement tickets in the event you lose your tickets.

To participate in the ceremony each student must have a cap and gown.  If your child has not ordered a cap and gown, please go to Jostens.comStudents can pick up their cap and gowns from Jostens during all lunch shifts on May 8. Additionally, we are requesting that your child dress in an appropriate manner for a formal ceremony.  Please review the document, Appropriate Attire for Graduation Ceremony.   Appropriate footwear is required for anyone that will be walking or seated on the turf field.  High heels are not recommended on the turf field.

If your student will not be participating in the graduation ceremony, please send a letter or email to me indicating this as soon as possible.

During the ceremony, we want to acknowledge each graduate; therefore, it is essential that the graduates and the audience remain quiet while all the names are called.  In order to preserve the integrity of our ceremony, we ask that bells, whistles, bull horns etc. not be brought to the ceremony.  These items are distracting and draw attention away from the graduates receiving diplomas.  Each graduate has worked hard and deserves special recognition.  Although the ceremony is being held on an athletic field, it is not an athletic event.  Please help us keep distractions to a minimum.  Additionally, the ceremony may be long, hot and not suitable for small children, infants, or the elderly.

After the ceremony you are welcome to take pictures on the stage, but we are asking you to remain in your seats during the ceremony.  A professional photographer will take a picture of each graduate receiving their diploma.  To access your child’s photograph, text the access code 110295GY24 to 90738 to receive access and ongoing alerts or visit, on your phone or computer.

For quick reference of the events happening this month, please take a look at the Class of 2024 document that is attached below. We appreciate your support in helping us celebrate this very special time and look forward to seeing you on May 30.
