BS in Mathematics from Towson University; MED in Education Leadership from Concordia University
I have been teaching since 2003 and started at Kent Island High School in 2011. I taught mathematics for almost a decade before switching to engineering. I grew up in a Navy family (Beat Army!) and have lived all over the world. With these experiences, I have seen mathematics and engineering used in every aspect of life and enjoy passing that knowledge on to my students.

AA in General Education CCC; BS in Business Administration from University of Baltimore; ME from University of Maryland
I have been a Business and Technology Teacher for over 40 years. Five of my six children graduated from Kent Island High School.

Undergraduate degree in Finance and Business Law from JMU. Graduate degree in Computer Science from University of AK
I completed undergrad at James Madison University in Finance and Business Law. I went to the University of Alaska-Fairbanks, while my wife was stationed at Ft. Wainwright, for graduate school where I earned a master's in Computer Science. My graduate research project was Distributed Speech Recognition Services (DSRS), circa 2000, when speech engine technology was still raw.
I, along with my family, relocated to Kent Island in 2004 for a coaching position with the Naval Academy rugby team. Prior to that I coached rugby at the Air Force Academy in CO and then the USA Rugby national team. At that time, rugby was a club sport at USNA therefore all the coaching positions were part time. Full time commitment but part time employment. Teaching enabled me to continue coaching as the school day ends at 3, practice starts at 4, perfect fit. I taught and coached for fifteen years until I stepped back from coaching post-pandemic.
I was hired on a provisional certificate since I had a degree in Computer Science (CS), special thanks to Dr. Hammond (RIP) for taking a chance on me. CS was a fledgling program when I was hired but it has since grown into a full pathway. In addition to writing the curriculum for the four CS courses, I've been able to add components to the CS pathway to heighten the student experience. Such as developing a competitive coding team, establishing local internships, and implementing the middle school coding club.
Each year, a majority of the graduating CS pathway students pursue CS as a college major. Many of whom had no idea what CS was prior to taking their first course in it. I've found that teaching isn't as much about content as it is about positively impacting the lives of our students. I heard that many times over the years but it never struck a cord until it did. Helping my students find their way and/or identify a career path is, I find, the most rewarding part of being a teacher.
When I graduated from HS, I had no idea what rugby was, what computer science was, and had never heard of Kent Island. All three ended up being a big part of my life. Life/work is a winding road with lots of twists and turns. You don't know where you'll end up when it's all said and done. I consider myself very fortunate to have landed at KIHS."
Fun fact: Both of my kids, Catrina and Alec, are products of QACPS. My daughter was an Aerospace Engineering major at Purdue and is now working for Lockheed Martin in their Black Hawk program. My son is currently a Computer Science major at Ga Tech.

My personal philosophy of education is to educate and excite students about the theories, foundations, and functions of business while helping each student understand and become a contributing member of our socio-economic system. I want students to have an understanding of business principles, how they are utilized in various fields as well as in everyday life, and to help them be prepared for further study and practical application in their own lives.

I have 4 kids (2 sons who graduated from KIHS and 2 daughters - 1 who is currently and 1 who will be at KI) who are all involved in many school and community activities. My husband and I are also very involved with many of the local sports programs and activities in the Kent Island community with our children. Being 5'2"" has its advantages and disadvantages. Advantage: I can fit into small spaces. Disadvantage: everyone asks you to squeeze through to get the ball that went over the fence for the tenth time. When I walk through the hallway between class changes, I have to find a student taller than I am, hold onto his/her bookbag, and follow that person like a tailback follows a fullback to the next class.
Being able to teach the full student: knowledge, basic life skills, and to encourage community involvement is why I teach. The fame and fortune is also a nice perk.

Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education; Master of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction; National Board Certification; currently pursuing a Doctorate in Education focused on Curriculum and Instruction
I have lived in Queen Anne's County for over 30 years and was lucky enough to attend Kent Island Elementary School, Stevensville Middle School, and Queen Anne's County High School (because KIHS was not around yet)! When not reviewing students' academic progress and ensuring all students are on track to graduate, I enjoy camping and boating, cheering for the Ravens, Orioles, and Capitals, and spending time with family and friends.
While I am a graduate of QACHS, I truly believe that "Once a Buc, Always a Buc!" Go Bucs!

BS in Elementary Education 1-6; MA in School Counseling K-12
Hello! I first started my career with QACPS back in 2017 where I taught 6th grade Social Studies and English/Language Arts at Stevensville Middle School. In 2019 I had the honor of receiving QACPS New Teacher of the Year. As my time at Stevensville Middle School progressed I later on became the School Counselor there in 2021.
In 2022 I made the move to Kent Island High School and I couldn't be happier. Being able to be a part of my students' High School experience, as well as post-graduation goals and plans is one of the most rewarding aspects of my job.
When it comes to counseling, I use predominantly solution-focused strategies, emphasizing what is already working for a student and focusing on their strengths. My conceptualization of student concerns considers their relationships, self-concepts, and goals. I believe all students should have access to a school counselor and that a school counseling program serves all students.

National Board Certified Teacher
I started teaching in Kent County in 2006 and moved to Stevensville Middle School in 2008. I spent the next 14 years there as an eighth-grade ELA teacher before transferring to Kent Island High School in 2022.
I am a Kent Island native and graduated from QACHS back when it was the only high school in the county. I now live in Centreville with my family, two dogs, and a tropical clawed frog. I love reading (of course), working in my gardens, biking, and exploring new places.

Married with two children and two dogs. Have worked at Kent Island High School since 2002. Both of my children graduated from Kent Island and one is now a teacher in Queen Anne's County school system.

While I graduated from Kent Island in this school in 2007, I never thought I'd be happier to be back! I was born and raised here on KI, have two wonderful boys and a husband of 17 years. My job is very important to me and I look forward to many more years here at Kent Island High School!

BS from University of Maryland, College Park
I am one of the six "original" employees to Kent Island High School and am happy to celebrate my 25th year as the principal's administrative assistant. I truly love this school, the kids, and the community. I have lived in QA county for the past 35 years, have raised two children who both graduated from QACHS and now am a proud grandmother of one! I love gardening, birding, fishing, and spending time on the water.

I have been working in QAC for over 20 years. I started out working as a volunteer and then became an assistant teaching at Grasonville Elementary School in the Pre-K program. I then started working with the county for hearing and vision, and then started at KIHS, where I have been ever since. I love what I do and I love working with the kids and parents at KIHS. We have some of the most talented students I think in the county.
