Stevensville, MD – Members of Kent Island High School’s Mu Alpha Theta chapter traveled to Salisbury University on November 19, 2025 for the annual Eastern Shore High School Math Competition, proudly representing QACPS alongside top public and private school teams from across the region. Under the leadership of coach Ms. Kristine Plocek, students competed at an elite level in both individual and team rounds.
“Our Mu Alpha Theta chapter is bigger and stronger than ever,” said Ms. Plocek. “Mu Alpha Theta is a National Mathematics Honor Society that includes organizations from high schools and two-year colleges. This year, Kent Island High School is led by two exceptional co-presidents, Abby Reeder and Dylan Miller, supported by eight committee chair officers and a total membership of 64 students.”
Ms. Plocek also praised the work of Wyatt McGuire, chair of the Math Competitions Committee. “Wyatt has done an outstanding job communicating with his peers about upcoming competitions and motivating them to perform at their best,” she said. “He leads by example, and I am incredibly proud of what he has accomplished so far this school year.”
