Kindergarten is mandatory for all students living in Queen Anne’s County who will be 5 years of age on or before September 1st, 2025. (PLEASE NOTE THAT IF YOU ARE ALREADY ATTENDING PRE-K4 FOR THE 24-25 SCHOOL YEAR AND WILL BE GOING TO KINDERGARTEN NEXT YEAR, YOU DO NOT NEED TO ENROLL NOW. YOU WILL BE AUTOMATICALLY ENROLLED AT THE END OF THIS SCHOOL YEAR AFTER YOU RECEIVE YOUR SNAP-CODE WITH YOUR FINAL PK REPORT CARD IN JUNE AND COMPLETE RE-ENROLLMENT THEN. All grade levels must complete an annual re-enrollment using their Snap-Codes in June.)
If you are not currently enrolled in PK4, please follow these steps. First you will complete your online registration, then you may sign up for a 15-minute in-person screening at the school.
- Go to https://www.qacps.org (DO NOT Google “Kindergarten at QACPS” or similar — that will take you to old info.)
- Click on the “School Registration” button found in the green area to the left.
- Scroll down to “Click Here to Find Which School Your Child Will Attend.” Verify the school by entering your address — this tool will tell you in which school you must enroll. Everyone must enroll in their “home school” (in the zone where you reside), even if you have daycare elsewhere. If you have daycare outside of your home zone, you will complete an “Out Of Zone” request AFTER you have enrolled in your home school. (OOZ forms are available under the “Parent Resources” tab – https://www.qacps.org/forms-resources/ and the Verification of Residency form is there also.)
- To register your child for school in QACPS, please obtain the following items:
- Birth Certificate
- Copy of Parent/Guardian Valid Driver’s License or Government Issued ID (bring to screening)
- Current Immunization Records
- Proof of Residence (Electric/gas statement, lease, mortgage statement, or property tax bill)
- IEP or 504 Plan (if applicable)
- Verification of Residency (if applicable)
- Once these forms are collected, please scroll down to Register for NEXT school year (beginning August 2025) and click on “My child will be a NEW student in QACPS” which takes you to our online portal called PowerSchool Enrollment. PLEASE DO NOT UPLOAD PHOTOS OF YOUR DOCUMENTS – THEY COME OUT TOO DARK TO READ. THEY SHOULD BE SCANNED INSTEAD. If you were unable to upload all documents, please call the school to set up an appointment. You will need to have the above forms with you for your appointment if not uploaded already.
