NEWS RELEASE
Date – March 9, 2023
The Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) released the results from the Maryland School Report Card School Year 2021-22 today, which includes star ratings of schools and accountability system school designations. In 2018, the Maryland State plan was approved by the U.S. Department of Education and the first Maryland School Report Card was released later that year. This 2021-22 Report Card is the first report released since the 2018-19 Report Card due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The U.S. Department of Education granted Maryland waivers from the accountability requirements of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) for the 2019-20 and 2020-21 school years and the assessment requirements for the 2019-20 school year due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The following are results from the 2021-22 School Year Maryland Report Card, pertaining to Queen Anne’s County. Schools are rated on stars from 1 to 5 (five being the highest). Kent Island Elementary and Centreville Elementary Schools offer only PK – grade 2; therefore, are not rated because of limited accountability measures, like state testing.
