QACPS launches ArtScene – the Podcast
NEWS RELEASE — (February 1, 2023) — Queen Anne’s County Public Schools (QACPS) has launched a new podcast to share the stories of talented Visual and Performing Arts teachers in Queen Anne’s County, MD. ArtScene | the Podcast is now available worldwide on Anchor.fm and Spotify, with RSS distribution across multiple other platforms, including Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, and iHeartRadio.
Episode 1 is 30 minutes in length and features Cassie Hosler, QACPS 2022 Teacher of the Year. The podcast is hosted by QACPS Fine Arts Supervisor Michael Bell, and opens with an emotional glimpse into Hosler’s journey prior to becoming an award-winning art teacher at Church Hill Elementary School.
“I wanted to be an art teacher, I really did,” shared Hosler, in the show’s opening. “But I was told—don’t ever become a teacher. And at first, I listened…I will never forget that moment.”
Tune in to listen to the full episode to find out what drove Hosler back to teaching, and check back for the next episode to drop March 1st featuring QACPS 2020 Teacher of the Year, Amber Wright, Dance teacher and Performing Arts Department Chair at Kent Island High.
“I saw this as an exciting new medium to shine the spotlight on our talented teachers working hard to produce all those talented students,” shared Bell. “And, why not build off our ‘Arts Teens of the Week’ stories with the same branding as our district-wide ArtScene.”
ArtScene (the two K – 12 district-wide art shows) Bell is referring to, has already become a staple in our communities since its inception in 2019. These shows are just as highly attended as a top sporting event, and given the unprecedented local, state and national recognition of QACPS student artists, ArtScene has put the arts in QACPS on the map.
ArtScene 2023 will be held at QACHS on Tuesday, April 25 from 5 – 8pm, and at KIHS on Thursday, April 27 from 5 – 8pm. Both shows FREE to the public. To listen to ArtScene | the Podcast, visit https://anchor.fm/artscene or Spotify.
