***NEWS RELEASE***

Centreville, MD – Caroline Winterstein, a senior at Queen Anne’s County High School, has been selected to represent Queen Anne’s County Public Schools as a member of the Maryland General Assembly’s (MGA) 2026 Student Page Program. John Grossi, a senior at Kent Island High School, has been selected as the alternate representative.
Each year, 105 pages and 36 alternates are selected from across the State to represent their schools and counties in Annapolis. The MGA Page Program is non-patronage and open to residents of Maryland who attend Maryland public and nonpublic high schools. As a Page, Caroline will serve two nonconsecutive weeks in either the State Senate or the House of Delegates. During the thirteen weeks of the session (January to April), she will serve one week during the first seven weeks and return for her second week during the last six.
Caroline’s duties as a Page will revolve around the schedule of the chamber to which she is assigned. Whenever her house (Senate or House of Delegates) is in session, she must also be present. Her duties may include, but not be limited to, keeping the members’ bill books up to date, distributing materials on the floor to the members, assisting visitors, and delivering messages to the members. After each day’s session, Pages may also be assigned additional work in the legislative chambers or committee rooms.
The Maryland General Assembly’s Student Page Program has a three-fold design: to interest youth in state government, and more specifically, in the proceedings of the legislature; to increase participation in government and foster leadership among youth; and to enable students to provide a vital service to the legislature, while meeting legislators and other officials.
After graduation, Caroline plans to attend a four-year university where she wants to study to become an agricultural lobbyist to continue to help the farming community.
