Reach out to your guidance counselor regarding second-semester schedule adjustments.

    Winter Concert

The month of December is the month in which our Performing Arts Department truly shines. On December 1st, band and choir students will perform in the Winter Band Concert and our dancers take the stage for our annual Winter Dance Concert on December 15th.  Both of these performances will begin promptly at 7:00 PM within our auditorium. We hope that you are able to join us.

Free online SAT tutorials can be found by accessing the student’s Naviance account under Naviance Test Prep.

    January Testing/Final Exams

Final exams are county approved and to be given at school on specific dates. Test security is very important; because of this, it is not possible to take the exams early.  I will provide more information on finals in our next Enewsletter.

Bayside Conference Safety Protocols for the 2021-2022 Winter Athletic Season

    • Unvaccinated students must be tested for COVID -19 at a minimum of every 14 days.
    • Vaccinated students (two weeks after the second dose)  are encouraged, though are not required, to test. Vaccinated students will need to provide a copy of the vaccination record/card to our athletic director, Daniel Miller:  daniel.miller@qacps.org
    • If any member of a cohort tests positive at any time, all students, vaccinated or not, will need to be tested.
    • Students who miss a scheduled test (at least every 14 days) will not be able to play or practice until the school receives a negative test.
    • Students that test positive will follow the current quarantine protocols.

    • COVID-19 testing is available at the Queen Anne’s County Department of Health on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9:00AM-12:00PM by appointment only.  Their number is 443-262-9909.  Testing is also available at local pharmacies and your primary physician’s office.

Parental consent will be required for testing. Students will be able to pre-register for an on-site test or register upon arrival.  Registration information was sent to you by our school district yesterday afternoon.  Our school’s link for registration and consent is:

We will assess our testing needs as the season progresses and share an updated schedule for testing at both QACHS and KIHS for the weeks starting on November 22.

Please do not hesitate to contact either John Schrecongost, Principal or Daniel Miller, Athletic Director, with questions.

We have attached, below, the Bayside Athletic Conference’s New Safety Protocols for our winter sports season. We are currently establishing our procedures for guests which we will share in the coming weeks.

    2021-2022 Winter Sports Safety Protocols

To promote the safe participation of students, coaches, officials and spectators, the  Bayside Conference has announced a set of new protocols for the upcoming Winter 2021-2022 high school sports season.

The following safety protocols will go into effect at the onset of the winter high school sports season.

All students participating in an interscholastic athletic activity that requires the removal of a face mask is subject to the  following testing protocols:

    Surveillance Testing Program

    a. Unvaccinated students must be tested for COVID-19 at a minimum of once every 14 calendar days.

    b. Vaccinated students are encouraged, but not required, to participate in the above testing program.  However, if there is a positive case of COVID-19 within the student’s cohort, he/she must be tested for  COVID-19.

    i. Student athletes who miss a scheduled test for COVID-19 are ineligible to participate in practices  or competition until the COVID-19 test has been taken and negative test results are provided to  the student’s school.

ii. Student athletes who test positive for COVID-19 are ineligible to participate in practices or competition until the student completes the exclusion/quarantine requirement(s) set forth by the local school system.

Athletic coaches are also required to adhere to the Surveillance Testing Program above in addition to all COVID-19 testing  protocols established by the local school system.

To ensure spectator safety, indoor competition venues will be open at limited capacity that allows for appropriate physical  distancing. A limited number of spectator passes will be issued to a student athlete for his/her guests to attend home (four passes) and away (two passes) competitions held in indoor facilities. Procedures for issuing passes will be established  by the Bayside Conference member schools; pass holders are still subject to any entry fees. In addition, all spectators will be required to wear a face mask while in an indoor competition venue.

For more information or specific questions regarding winter sports, please contact Athletic Director Daniel Miller: daniel.miller@qacps.org

ASVAB testing will take place for all juniors in English III classes this semester on November 18th in the auditorium. ASVAB is an excellent tool to help a student match their interest and aptitude. Testing begins at 7:40 and will end at 11:00am. This is used by the armed services but is one of the best career development tools available.  Score interpretations will take place on December 14th. In addition, any senior interested in this for military purposes should sign up in guidance.

    Second Semester Schedule Adjustments/Internships

All students should take a few minutes to review their 2nd semester classes to make any course adjustments during November & December. Contact your school counselor to make schedule changes.

Internships for 2nd Semester: Any junior or senior who is considering an internship should begin to make arrangements. We currently have a number of businesses that are offering internships. Contact your school counselor for necessary paperwork and schedule adjustments.

    Free and Reduced Meals

Regardless of the school meals being free this year, the Central Office has asked that the FARM form be completed.  Further, students who are eligible for FARM can also receive free tuition on dual enrollment classes taken at Chesapeake College.    Please click on the link below to access the form.

    Other Important Reminders:

If you need to take your student out of school early:

Please send your student to school with a note so that the attendance secretary may issue a pass. This will cut down on the need to call into a classroom, and lessen the disruption of instruction.
