Queen Anne’s County Public Schools Welcomes 50 New Educators for the 2026-2027 School Year

CENTREVILLE, MD – On Monday, August 10, 2026 Queen Anne’s County Public Schools (QACPS) proudly welcomed 50 new educators, 18 of whom graduated from QACPS,  during a day-long orientation designed to introduce them to the district’s mission, leadership, and community.

The day began at the Queen Anne’s County Board of Education headquarters with a welcome breakfast, giving new hires an opportunity to meet colleagues and prepare for the upcoming year.  Dr. Matthew Kibler, Superintendent, opened the program with a warm welcome and introductions of Board of Education members President Alexis Capes and Shannon Bent, the Executive Team, Sheriff Hofmann, Melinda Ray, Character Counts Coordinator, school administrators, and supervisors.

The 2026–2027 QACPS Teacher of the Year, Ms. Alice Tickler, shared an inspiring message with the group before they embarked on a Schools and Communities Bus Tour. The bus tours provided new educators with valuable insight into the diverse communities they will serve.

QACPS would like to thank Chick-fil-A on Kent Island for sponsoring Monday’s luncheon for new educators.

“Welcoming 50 new teachers to QACPS is an exciting way to begin the school year and reflects the tremendous investment our Board of Education, County Commissioners, and community have made in our schools,” said Dr. Kibler. “That investment is helping us expand reading and math specialists, teacher specialists, behavioral and mental health supports and reduce class size. We are incredibly grateful and excited to welcome these educators to the QACPS family.”

For the remainder of the week, new educators met with their supervisors for content meetings, decorated their new classrooms, and received technology training on QACPS’ various platforms.

QACPS extends a warm welcome to all new team members and looks forward to a successful 2026–2027 school year.
