MARK A. ANDERSON APPOINTED TO FILL VACANT SEAT ON QUEEN ANNE’S COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION

CENTREVILLE, MD – Mark A. Anderson of Stevensville has been appointed by Governor Larry Hogan to fill the vacant seat for District 4 on the Queen Anne’s County Board of Education. Mr. Anderson is president of the Plantation Lane Homeowners Association and a former Queen Anne’s County Commissioner.

“Mr. Anderson brings a wealth of private sector and public service experience to the Board and I look forward to working with him,” said Board of Education president Tamera Harper.

Mr. Anderson retired from the Nevamar Corporation in 1995 and has been an active member of the Kent Island community, serving as a member of the Kent Island Elks Lodge 2576, Kent Island American Legion Post 278 and the Kent Island Heritage Society.

“I appreciate the professional relationship that Mr. Anderson and I shared when he was a County Commissioner. His support and interest in our expanding work with Youth Apprenticeship will be a great segue to his role as a new Board member,” said Dr. Andrea M. Kane, Superintendent of Schools.

Mr. Anderson fills the Board seat left vacant when Sharyn Harlow resigned on November 30, 2019.

Mr. Anderson will serve until the November 2020 General Election.
