Queen Anne’s County High School Alumni Association to Award Scholarships
The Queen Anne’s County High School Alumni Association is pleased to announce that three $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to deserving students again this year. To be eligible for the scholarships, students must be members of the QACHS Alumni Association or direct descendants of Association members. Scholarship forms and member applications can be found in the guidance offices of Queen Anne’s County High School or Kent Island High School or may be accessed online by going to the Queen Anne’s County High School website (http://qacps.schoolwires.net/
The primary purpose of the QACHS Alumni Association is to provide scholarships to deserving students and to provide gifts and services to the school. Since its inception, the Association has encouraged graduates to join and renew memberships by paying $10 yearly dues or $15 yearly dues for married alumni. These dues plus the Multi-Class reunion serve as the major fundraisers for offering scholarships and gifts to the school. In addition to the yearly scholarships, the Association has provided a custom built trophy/awards cabinet for the lobby and has recently provided funding for a brick walkway in Lions Stadium.
Applicants do not need to attend QACHS in order to qualify for the scholarships. The scholarships are open to QACHS Alumni Association members who currently attend college or wish to go to college or to any high school seniors from any school who are descendants of QACHS Alumni Association members. The applicant must be officially accepted into an accredited program or certificate program at a U. S. college or university and carry a minimum of three credits per semester. The applicants are required to state clear career plans and submit a complete scholarship application package by the deadline date.
